One of the Easiest Ways to Impact Children's Lives
One of the easiest ways for adults to have a greater impact on a child's sense of self value:Speak up with your affirmation even if others already have.
Just because another adult praises a child for their accomplishment or expresses delight in a child's effort doesn't mean the role has been filled. The child wants and needs affirmation from EACH influential adult in their lives.
I've seen countless teachers, parents, aunts, uncles, friends, and grandparents stand silently because they seem to think one adult affirming a child for something is enough.
But each child notices who does and who doesn't give affirmation and enthusiastic attention. And they gravitate to the ones who do.
"But it's not my personality! I don't want to add to the noise in the room. It doesn't feel natural coming out of my mouth. It sounds fake when I hear myself. My voice won't make a difference after everyone else's..."
Wrong. Your voice matters. They might not remember what you said, but they'll remember how you made them feel.
