Renewing the Mind Takes More Than Good Intentions
I intended to renew my mind each and every day. And by "intended to", I really mean "purposefully avoided." It's not that I don't want the benefits of a renewed mind. Obviously I do. It's that I don't want to put in the work.
Or even more precise, I don't want to sacrifice the time it takes to renew my mind. That's precious downtime. More precious than gold, actually.
So what do you do when you want something but not enough to make it happen? Seems like one of two possibilities: either you change your method of operation and make proactive choices or you settle for having good intentions but never following through on them.
I wish i'd befriended a goal oriented self-starter in high school... an independent thinker who might've shown me the ropes in time to salvage my 20s.
Instead, I spent the next decade figuring out that the world, and even God, was not going to give me my dreams.
