Three Questions To Ask Yourself So You Can Begin Pursuing Your Purpose
If you’re like me, you’ve read dozens of books and articles about purpose while you search for the reason you exist. It’s a question everyone faces at some point. Some people find answers, some people give up the search, and still others are perpetually searching or waiting.
Comedian Michael Jr. gave a talk recently at Life Church in Oklahoma about living your authentic purpose. You can watch the entire talk below.
Michael Jr. offered three questions you can ask yourself to determine what you should be doing with your life:
What is the problem?
What problem in the world bothers you the most? I mean it bothers you so much you are motivated to do something about it.
Who are my people?
Who are the people with this problem in your life? Who are the people within your reach that need help?
What can I give?
What do you have that you can give to help them with this problem?
Rather than searching for years for the perfect approach to “being” what you were called to be, Michael Jr. encourages us to focus on what we can do now. Because sometimes you can ad lib your way through the day or the season, but ultimately you need to put yourself in motion doing something that resonates with what affects you and gives you a sense of meaningful contribution.
God may speak to you in a dream or vision or friend or coincidence about your greater purpose or calling, but until then, don’t just do the same stale thing you’e always done.
Remember the popular definition of insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again while expecting different results.
