It's Time To Discuss the Root Cause of Church Scandals
Rather than consuming the constant breaking news coverage of the latest pastor's scandal, it’s time to address the systemic dysfunction of the contemporary church model.
The expiration date of this artificial platform-centric model has come. It elevates the few to superior status and employs professional priest-Christians.
The building is not God’s house. The sanctuary is not the temple.
Relationship, equipping, and discipleship typically place outside of this structure.
The next stage in the development of the Christian church is the return to and the restoration of the house assembly.
Not just smaller versions of modern church service. Not just a smaller scale platform.
Some communities have already embraced this shift.
Some house gatherings will network together and some won’t. An individual will have influence on his or her local community gathering.
Each person shows up ready to contribute whatever talents and skills they have.
The Lord’s Supper (aka Communion) is an ACTUAL meal taking place in relationship.
Whether this shift takes place over 5 years or 50, I believe it is coming and is now here.
No megastars and no idols. Real people serving real people.
The least becomes the greatest. Again.
